
Full Job Description
Level 1 or higher swimming instructor required. Training in NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) will be provided on commencing of starting job.
Purpose of Role
This role will primarily involve working as a lifeguard/swim teacher
Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility users through prevention & identification of risks and hazards, and in the event of an incident, ensuring the appropriate & timely response. Deliver a consistence high standard under the Swim Safe Programme and provide excellent customer care in a safe and fun environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to and implement all Birr Leisure Centre policies & procedures
- Keep accurate records concerning all aspects of work. i.e., cleaning, pool test results, first aid/accidents report etc.
- Ensure full use of all equipment as per NOP
- Teach the Birr Leisure Centre Swim Safe Programme according to the syllabus and guidelines.
- Ensure best practice and delivery are followed when teaching private, school and group bookings.
- Ensure customer service is to the highest standard when dealing with queries/concerns.
- Maintain the pool environment, setting up and taking down equipment as required.
- Additional duties as allocated by the Manager/Assistance Manager
- Participate and successfully complete monthly staff training and other in-house training sessions, as required
- Continuously improve instructor knowledge and skills to remain up-to-date on all teaching practices and trends.

Essential:
- RLSS/WSI lifeguard qualification
- Minimum assistant Swim Teacher Certificate with Swim Ireland/IWS/STA
- It is the employee’s responsibility to keep their qualifications in date
